Frederick Edmond Pardella

-

November 30, 1938 - November 7, 2022

Fred was born in San Francisco to Florence and Felix Pardella. He passed away peacefully at his home after a hard fought battle against Parkinson’s. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, and in 1983 by his loving wife of 20 years, Suzanne Pardella, with whom he shared his son Greg. Fred continued to parent Greg from age 11 on, always putting Greg’s needs before his own, and rarely considering his own fulfillment while making sure Greg didn’t yearn for anything. Fred eventually found companionship again, and married Rita Kroll-Pardella in 1999. Rita passed away in November of 2020 with Fred by her side.

Fred is survived by his loving son Greg, daughterin-law Karin, and doting grandchildren Lauren and Jack. He is also survived by his brother Dan (wife Ruby), sister-in-law Carol, nephews Steve, Nicholas and Timothy Pardella, as well as his niece Carolyn Kelly.

Fred grew up in San Francisco. One of three boys born to Felix and Florence. Fred being the middle son, with brother John (Jack) being the oldest and Daniel (Danny) being the youngest of the three. The Pardella brothers were well known in San Francisco while growing up and becoming young men. If you knew one, then you knew all three. They created so many memories, and so much laughter, that if you were fortunate enough to spend time with them, nothing else needs to be said or emphasized.

Fred graduated from Sacred Heart High School and City College of San Francisco. After college Fred joined the SFPD in 1961. Fred earned the rank of Lieutenant and retired from the job after 30 years in 1991. Fred really enjoyed his years as a police officer. He always loved to reminisce about the people he worked with and the experiences they had together.

Fred always had a work ethic to be admired. He did not stay retired long, and soon after his SFPD retirement he became employed with Tiffany and Co. Fred worked with Tiffany and Co. for 12 years, the majority of his tenure as Market Security Manager for the five Tiffany and Co. stores in the Bay Area. When Fred retired from Tiffany and Co. he was given a special retirement party on the second floor of the S.F Tiffany store. This party was attended by multiple friends and co-workers. Fred really appreciated the Tiffany and Co. family that he came to know during this second career.

After decades in the working world Fred and Rita were able to spend their retirement years doing extensive travel in Europe and the United States. Fred and Rita enjoyed spending time hiking, biking, going on leisurely walks, and just being together. They both cherished events with family and friends, and neither ever grew tired of enjoying a good time with those fortunate enough to cross their path.

Fred was a genuine and authentic man. He never did anything because someone may be watching, or say something because someone may be listening. He lived with an innate integrity that cannot be taught or learned, yet he never looked for this to be acknowledged. He just took care of the people around him, felt compassion for those that needed it, and quietly and without intention even, led others by example. Fred will be remembered for being a caring, kind, generous and thoughtful person. A great friend to many, and an incredible father to one. He will be missed so much.

A Memorial Liturgy will be held 11:30 am, Wednesday Dec. 7 at St Bonaventure Catholic Church, Concord.

If Donations are desired they can be made in Fred’s name to the SFPD Widows and Orphans Fund.
