Arlene Gnazzo
March 2, 1938 - October 28, 2022
Arlene Sophie Gnazzo passed away peacefully on the morning of October 28, 2022, in West Palm Beach, FL. She was 84 years old. Arlene was born on March 2, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Ralph and Wanda Buzikowski, and was the oldest of four children, including her siblings Ralph, Jr., Jeanne, and Cheryl. Shortly after her senior year at South Side High School, Arlene met Frank Gnazzo, whom she married on July 3, 1957. They had three children together – Melanie, Leticia, and P.R.
In the early 1970s, Arlene and Frank owned an Italian restaurant in the Carrick neighborhood of Pittsburgh, named Sophie’s Saloon. When Arlene and Frank divorced in the 1980s, she went back to school and worked for the Pittsburghbased Royal Insurance Company for several years. In 1995, Arlene moved to San Francisco, CA, to be near her eldest daughter, Melanie, and worked at the law firm Giancarlo & Gnazzo. Outside of work, Arlene enjoyed spending time with her grandsons,
Robert and Ryan. She was also a parishioner of Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco.
In the summer of 2003, Arlene retired to Singer Island, FL, near her daughter, Leticia. There she enjoyed water aerobics with friends, attending church services at St. Francis of Assisi, and dining out.
Arlene is loved and will be missed dearly by her three children, Melanie Gnazzo, Leticia Gnazzo, and P.R. Gnazzo; their spouses Stuart Lipton, Michael Odum, and Marcy Gnazzo; and her four grandchildren, Jamie Gnazzo, Lindsey Gnazzo, Robert Lipton, and Ryan Lipton.
