It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Madison Kyle, III of San Mateo, CA, on November 14, 2022.

“Jamie” as he was known to family and good friends, passed away with his beloved wife Barbara by his side. Jamie was predecease­d by his parents E. Margaret and James Kyle, ll, his brother, John Kyle, and his first wife, Mary Bauer Kyle. He is survived by his adoring wife, Barbara, his son, James Kyle, lV, his sister, Virginia Kyle McInerny, his brother Tom Kyle, nieces Jeanne Jardine (Andrew) and Susy McInerny May (Dan May), grand-niece, Geneva May; and his nephew Sean Kyle. Jamie is also survived by his stepdaught­er, Allison Kittay (Steve Byers), former son-in-law Gregory Syren, his grandsons, Justin Syren (Lauren) and Nico Syren (Kathia) and his greatgrand­children, Mara, Vida, and Walker James Syren.

Jamie was born in Columbia, Missouri on May 3, 1931. He grew up in St. Louis and attended Normandy High School, graduating in 1949. He earned his degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri in 1953 and was a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduation, Jamie entered the US Air Force Intelligen­ce Service as a 2nd Lieutenant, and proudly served his country for four years in Germany. After his service he earned a Law degree from Hastings School of Law in San Francisco, CA, and practiced Family Law in Hayward, CA for over 30 years, becoming partner in the law firm Able & Kyle.

Jamie was an avid fly-fisherman, a wine aficionado, a history buff, gardening enthusiast, and enjoyed playing tennis well into his 80s.

Jamie will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on December 8, 2022, at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto.
