Edgeworth Rorke

Edgeworth (Ed) Rorke was born in Dublin Ireland and died in California at the age of 95. He came to Detroit Michigan in his 20’s and was proud to serve in the US Air Force in Colorado and become a citizen in 1953.

He met his wife Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Rorke while in college and they were married in 1952. He graduated with a Business degree from the University of Denver in 1957. Ed and Betty moved to Concord California for his first job after college. Later for almost 20 years Ed had the business Office Interiors and Systems in Oakland and San Francisco. He lived in Oakland, San Diego and Alameda over the years. He was passionate about his horses and his community involvemen­t.

He was a long standing member of the Lake Merritt Breakfast Club and Oakland Rotary.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents James and Florence, siblings Fred, Lena, Sam, Ernie, his first wife Betty, and second wife Mary. He is survived by his brother Bill of Canada, children David, Richard, Jennifer, grandchild­ren Brandon, Kevin, Terilyn, Devin, Elizabeth and great granddaugh­ter Nevaeh.

Ed will be interned at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA at 11:15 am on December 2nd.
