Eileen Galloway Vohs passed away on November 20 at home in the company of her loving husband, at the age of 92. She was born Mary Eileen Flaherty on June 21, 1930, in Hollywood, California. The family relocated to the Bay Area when Eileen was a teenager, and she graduated in 1952 from UC Berkeley. She worked for many years as a medical technologist in the laboratory of John Muir Memorial Hospital in Walnut Creek. Eileen was married to Don Galloway from 1953 until his death in 2001. In 2005 she married James Vohs of Oakland, and the couple enjoyed many happy years together. Her “bonus” family included Jim’s four daughters and their children, who were a joy to her. Eileen is survived by James A. Vohs of Lafayette, her brother, Brother Francis of Assumption Abbey in Ava, Missouri, and her children Cathleen Brown of Berkeley, Dana Galloway Blair of Rancho Cucamonga, and Peter and John Galloway of Walnut Creek. She leaves behind three granddaughters, Bonnie and Robyn Brown, and Megan Long. Eileen will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her many friends and family. A memorial service will be held November 30, 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in Eileen’s memory to Hospice East Bay.
