Lorraine Marie Etcheverry was born July 18,1946 and passed peacefully on November 27,2022 at the age of 76 in Redwood City, CA. She was born and raised in San Francisco where she met and married her late husband, Jean Baptiste Etcheverry. After the birth of their daughter, Denise, they moved to Redwood City where they built their life. Lorraine enjoyed a long career in the banking industry starting with her first position at Hibernia Bank in downtown San Francisco, moving on to Wells Fargo and Western Financial in Redwood City and rounding out her career, retiring from the San Mateo Credit Union after over 35 years. For a short time during her daughter’s rearing, she also ran a day care out of her home. Lorraine was a hardworkin­g, generous, fun loving woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to entertain and bake and enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas party for family and friends for over 50 years! She connected with people, having a knack for turning strangers into friends wherever she went. She enjoyed giving her time to the communitie­s she cared for. She was a proud Basque American, serving on the Basque Cultural Center’s Board of Directors for many years. She loved good music, witty conversati­on, and a delicious meal shared among family and friends. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband, Jean Baptiste Etcheverry; her parents, Lilly and Manes Saldubeher­e; her sisters-in-law Kattalin (Jacques) Goity and Grace Berhan; her brothers-in-law, Gracien (Veronique) Etcheverry, Michel Etcheverry, Jean Pierre Etcheverry, Martin Etcheverry and Henri Bonson. She will be forever missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise Etcheverry Benson and John Benson; her grandchild­ren, Eva and Dominic Benson; her sister, Ann Saldubeher­e; her sisters-in-law, Marie Jeanne Bonson, Odette Etcheverry, Annie Nogues and Marguerite Etcheverry; her brotherin-law, Dominique Berhan, her daughter’s in-laws, the O’Marie-Benson family; her many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial mass is scheduled for Friday, January 20,2023 at 10:30 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Redwood City, CA.
