Jean Dobie

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Jean Chatterton Dobie, age 95, on November 23, 2022. She was born on January 12, 1927 in Tulare, California. She graduated from S.F.’s Commerce High School in 1944. She married the late Robert “Bob” E. Dobie on August 17, 1946 and together they had four children. She retired from Bank of America.

Jean’s joys of life included her family, reading, crossword puzzles, See’s candy, potato chips, bingo, cats, and traveling with their RV. She enjoyed watching PBS especially, cartoons, live theater, and Jeopardy!. She was a volunteer extraordin­aire. She volunteere­d for the HOA at American Canyon’s World Marine Estates. She was a scout leader, storytelle­r at multiple children’s libraries, teacher’s aide, candy striper at Kaiser Vallejo, and manager at the non-profit store at Cogir Senior Living in Vacaville.

Jean is survived by her brother, Walter Ted Chatterton, son William (Carol) Dobie, daughters Barbara (Larry) Leonard, Arlene (James, deceased) Balestreri, Carole (Ben) Guzman. Nine grandchild­ren, sixteen great grandchild­ren, four great-great grandchild­ren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jean’s ashes will join her beloved husband, Bob, in the Pacific at a later date. She will be dearly missed by so many.
