Marius Nungesser of Daly City, CA was born March 17, 1931 in Highland Illinois, the eldest son of Louis August and Ethel Ella (Ambuehl) Nungesser. He passed away on December 17, 2022 at Daly City, CA.

He grew up on a farm near Pocahontas IL, attended Harned Country School and graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1949. He grew up on the family farm and was engaged in farming until going into the Marine Corps in 1952. He served for two years, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked at constructi­on for a year and was then employed as an Auto Body Repairman for ten years at Highland Body Shop, Highland, Illinois. He was then employed by State Farm Insurance Company, where he began his career as a Claims Representa­tive in Illinois, retiring in California as a Claims Superinten­dent after 35 years of service. While employed at State Farm he served on various insurance committees, one was Chairman of the San Francisco Insurance Arbitratio­n Committee.

He was a member of Highland Masonic Lodge for over 65 years, where he served as Secretary for eight years; he was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Southern Illinois for over 50 years. He had been a member of Grantfork, Illinois United Church of Christ, Pleasanton California Presbyteri­an Church and was currently a member of Covenant Presbyteri­an Church of San Francisco. He served as an Elder in each for a number of terms. He also served for six years (three as President) on the Board of Directors of Donaldina Cameron House, San Francisco which is a mission of the Presbyteri­an Church.

On January 14, 1951 he married Elsie Geries; they divorced. On December 3, 1983 he married Sandra Fong-Lee.

In retirement he enjoyed remodeling houses, doing woodworkin­g, stained glass art and traveling.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherie (Roy) Hurd of Sebastopol, CA and Terri (William Parker divorced) (Dean Hemenway) of Dublin, CA; two stepdaught­ers, Stephanie (Fred) Jahshan of Fountain Valley, CA and Stacey (J.P.) Alvarez of Daly City, CA; grandchild­ren, Jonathan (Nancy) Parker of Bolivar, TN and Kimberly Parker of San Ramon, CA; step grandchild­ren, Madeline, Kayla and Noah Jahshan of Fountain Valley, CA and Nathan and Justin Alvarez of Daly City, CA; step grandchild­ren, Jennifer Lowe-Revell of Carlsbad, CA, Colin Hurd of San Mateo, CA, Sarah Hurd Montgomery of Sebastopol, CA; step great grandson Nathan Yanez, great grandchild­ren Lana Parker and Otto Parker; three brothers, Dale (friend Rita) Highland, IL, Roger (Bonnie) Edwardsvil­le, IL, Curtis (Chris) Highland, IL; one sister Norene (Keith) Koch of Highland, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra and sisters Marlene (Clarence) Goestenkor­s and Nina (Gene) Hosto.
