Patricia Weaver Miller, a native of San Francisco and long-time resident of San Mateo, passed away on December 31, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born in San Francisco in 1930 to Cecilia and Gilbert Weaver. She married James W. “Bill” Miller in 1963 and they had a wonderful marriage through Bill’s passing in 2007. She is survived by her sons, Jeff and his wife Christa of Pinole and their two children Caleb and Regan, and Andy and his wife Cindy of San Diego. Also surviving her is her younger brother, Donald Weaver of Sacramento.

Besides raising 2 wonderful boys, Patricia would say her greatest accomplishment was 40 years volunteering with the San Mateo-Burlingame Auxiliary for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. This auxiliary has been raising money for the hospital since 1942 and Patricia served there for many decades in a variety of roles, including President of the Auxiliary. Her time, energy and contributions to the Auxiliary over the years benefitted many children and their families at Packard Children’s Hospital, including her own grandson who would later receive urgent pediatric care at the hospital.

Patricia was proud of being born in San Francisco and insisted that her boys were born there as well, even though the growing family lived in Belmont at the time. When her first grandchild was due, she insisted that he be born in San Francisco also. With Jeff’s family living in the East Bay, that would have been difficult. In fact the family told Patricia that such a trip would probably result in Caleb being born on Treasure Island, to which Patricia replied, “That’s technically San Francisco so I would be okay with that.”

Patricia was a world traveler. She lived and worked in Japan in her early 20s, and traveled to many countries throughout Europe, including England, Germany, Austria, and Greece. She won a “trip around the world” in 1984 and she and Bill were able to visit Moscow, Beijing, Hong Kong, and London. In addition, she enjoyed many cruises throughout the Caribbean and Mexico, and almost yearly vacations in Maui. She also loved growing and nurturing succulents and has won many awards for her succulents in the county fair.

She was a life-long Catholic and was a parishioner at St. Gregory’s Church for 50 years and served in several volunteer positions there, including being a Lector.

Her Memorial Service will be held at St. Gregory’s Church, 2715 Hacienda St, in San Mateo at 1:30pm on Saturday January 21.
