Beverly La Rocca passed away on January 6, 2023, at the age of 92.

Beverly is survived by her four children Rosemarie La Rocca (Doug McDougall), Alphonse La Rocca, Samuel La Rocca (Ann-Marie Walsh La Rocca) and Jack La Rocca (Cheryl Walden). She is also survived by cherished granddaughters Betsey Stevens (Jared Stevens), Florence Ferreira (Carter Mudd), Meighan and Siobhan La Rocca, Mylissa Benedetto and Holly Hood. Bev was also blessed with two great grandchildren Adelynn and Eloise Stevens and one due soon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Diane Farrer, niece Connie Farrer (Juan Gomez, Jr.) and great niece Monica Gomez.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Jack (d. 8/7/22), parents Elizabeth “Betty” and Samuel Scaruffi, brother Kenneth Scaruffi, beloved aunt Frances Oden and stepmother Florence.

Bev was born and raised in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco and graduated from Galileo High School class of 1948. She married the love of her life, Jack La Rocca in 1950. Together they raised their four children on 38th Avenue in the Sunset District.

Bev lived a very full life. When she was not caring for her family, she was working at GETS in the yardage department or as a teacher’s aide at St. Vincent de Paul. She volunteered as an usher at SF theaters’ attended classes on Shakespeare and enjoyed trips to Ashland. She planned and loved trips to Europe and New York with friends and family. For many years, during the summer she could be found at Oddfellows up at the Russian

River, first with her children and then later with her two oldest granddaughters. At her house she would sing and play the piano while her granddaughters danced and performed skits for her. You could also find her at her dining room table coloring and cutting out snowflakes with them. She was a good friend to many and cherished each of her friendships. There was always room for one more at the La Rocca table, especially for Sunday dinners.

Bev was a special lady who leaned on her faith as she grew older. She looked forward to her weekly visits from the “church lady” who brought her the Eucharist. She said more than once she had lived a good life, with a wonderful family and good friends, and was ready when God decided it was her time.

A special thank you to Ceasar and his staff in SF and Carmen and her staff in Roseville who took such loving care of her over the past six years.

The funeral mass will be held at Saint Gabriel Church, 2559 40th. Ave., San Francisco on Monday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m.
