James Paul Green
May 8, 1944 - January 10, 2023
James Paul Green, 78, passed away peacefully at his long-time home in San Francisco. He was the eldest child of Paul and Patricia Green, born in SF and raised in Daly City. He is survived by his 3 children: William, Elizabeth (David), and Kevin (Natasha), along with 4 siblings: Susan, Stephen (Linda), Patrick and Timothy (Barbara). Grandfather to Austin, Gabriella, Madeline, and Claire.
He was raised a devote catholic, Jim attended OLPH, Riordan High, Santa Clara University, and law school at USF. He then established a very successful law practice in San Francisco.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed a long-tenured membership with the Olympic Club. Jim’s childhood home in Westlake backed up to the 4th hole of the Ocean Course. As a child he would jump the back fence to enjoy the links in all its glory and developed his passion for golf. Possessing a quick Irish wit, and biting tongue, Jim was a fierce competitor in life, business, and golf.
Jim was a passionate collector of classic cars, golf clubs, and mementos from years past. His second home in Half Moon Bay, affectionately referred to as “The Ranch”, was his sanctuary from the hustle of the city. He always said it was an oasis of tranquility in a sea of discord. Jim was a private man, who enjoyed his solitude.
To Jim, an Irish blessing… May the roads rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall softly upon your fields.
And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Heaven holds the dearly departed.
The Funeral Mass will be, Tuesday, January 31st, 10am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 221 Valley St, SF.
