Richard Joseph (Dick) Reilley

October 19, 1950 - January 16, 2023

-

In San Francisco. Dick was a consummate gentleman and a scholar. Educated in and a devotee of the Jesuit tradition, first at Bellarmine College Prep then at Santa Clara University. He was a proud and loyal alum of both and continued his spiritual growth as a long time member of St. Ignatius Parish in San Francisco. Dick was a singular intellect, a classicist, fluent in Latin, Ancient Greek and James Joyce. A lawyer by trade, rather than going to law school, he read for the bar and passed on his first attempt. He was as ethical as he was brilliant. Proudly eccentric he never owned a computer nor a cell phone. He was always engaging and equally at ease with paupers and princes. We shall not see his likes again. Preceded into Peace by his father Richard and mother Agnes and brothers Bill and John (J.R.),he is survived by his brothers Martin (Beth Centis) and James (Sheri Martin); sisters Mary Eileen (James Krieg dec)and Kathleen May (Mike May); nieces Kelsey Reilley and Jane Reilley (Cyrus Moshiri) nephews Joe Reilley, Reilley

and Michael May, and nephew and godson Charlie May. “What shame or limit should there be on feeling of loss for such a dear life. That man has died mourned by his many good friends though mourned by none so much as you.”
