Frank Carl Stranzl

March 3, 1923 - February 1, 2023

Frank Carl StranzI passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2023, one month before his hundredth birthday.

Frank was born March 3, 1923 in San Francisco to Frank and Marie Stranzl. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force in 1943 and served as an expert aviation mechanic during WWII. He subsequently had a long career in the San Francisco Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant in 1977.

Frank met his wife Helen in 1943, and they married on November 19, 1944 in Redmond, OR.

They first lived in San Francisco, moved to San Anselmo in 1956, to Sonoma in 1972, and finally settled in Rohnert Park in 1982. He was preceded in death by Helen in 2012.

Frank is survived by his 8 children; Richard (Barbara), Karen Owen, Frank Jr. (Maria), Katie Romero (John), Jim (Della), Gil, Marilyn Torre (Peter), and Carolyne Crenwelge (Kevin). His 15 grandchildren are: Jeannie, Carrie, Kelly (Josh), Frank, Corie (Gary), Katrina, John (Angela), Megan (Jaret), Stacy, Myles (Thuy), Andrew, Christina, Ryan (Mary), Eric (Hannah), and Mary Katherine (Alexis). His 16 great grandchildren are: Ruby, Violet, Daphne, Autumn, Bailey, Siena, Piper, Declan, Killian, Matilda, Jack, Emma,

Rowan, Witten, Colton, and Kennedy.

Frank was a devout Catholic, and donated generously to the Church and to various charities and non-profit organizations in Sonoma County.

On Thursday, February 16, 2023 friends and family are invited to attend a viewing and rosary (10:00 am), and a funeral service (10:30 am), to be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 4595 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park, CA.

A private burial service will take place on Friday, February 17th at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Santa Rosa.

The family expresses special appreciation to Vani Tuinatewa and Petaluma Hospice for their care.
