November 15, 1926 - February 10, 2023

Holding the hand of his beloved Therese, Louis Henry Reimers ended 96 years chock full of life and love on February 10. His friends and family miss him deeply, but are profoundly grateful for his singular zest for life, his enjoyment of camaraderie, his kindness, and his ever-present wit.

Lou was proud of being a life-long San Franciscan. He was the son of Bernice and Louis Reimers, and he and his sister, Jo, were close during both of their long lives. He was a special uncle to Jordan and Erika, Jeremy, and had a meaningful relationship with his niece Nancy. He was also a favorite great-uncle to many grand-nieces and nephews – Loretta, Jessie, Emma, Andy, and Ben. He graduated from Lincoln High School in SF, and then from the California Culinary Academy.

For more than 50 years, Lou owned and operated L’Entrée Catering, based in Marin’s Strawberry Village. Through his work he shared, and added to, countless hours of joyous celebration with people throughout the Bay Area. He was also an accomplished photographer.

He was married to his first wife, Rosaline, until her passing. Later, he and Therese Stawowy joined forces for 20-plus years of what she describes as a great love story, a “royal” life, full of great fun, world travel, a small army of friends, restaurants and theater, and treasured trips to Lake Tahoe.

Though not a Catholic himself, Lou regularly accompanied Therese to worship at Newman Hall in Berkeley. Through the years he became a treasured member of that community, giving and getting wonderful support.

Lou was a gin and tonic kind of guy, though he also appreciated good wine. Those closest to him ask that he be remembered at your favorite restaurant, and consider enjoying a G and T in his honor.

There will be a private, family graveside service at a later date.
