Otto Alfredo Niduaza, 92, of Daly City, California, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 1st. He passed away after a three-year battle with dementia.

Otto, a rare breed in many ways, was a native San Franciscan. Raised in the Fillmore district, Otto was “adopted” by the Mangoes, a Filipino American Athletic Youth Club, where he not only made the connection to find his wife of 70 years, Dolores, but friendships that lasted his lifetime. After graduating from Galileo High School, Otto joined the Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He retired from Pac Bell in 1994, after 40 years. In retirement he was able to focus all his energy on his greatest loves – his family (namely his grandchildren), dancing and soaking in what each day had to give him.

Otto’s greatest achievement was being a husband and father. To his children he was a living example of what it meant to love and be loved. He was their hero and showed them what it meant to relish in every moment life had to offer.

Otto was preceded in death by his mother, Rosita; his sister, Grace, and his son “infant Niduaza.” He is survived by his wife Dolores; his son Gary (Bill); his daughter Rosita (Bob); his son Kevin (Laura); his daughter-in-law Sandra and his grandchildren, Kevin (Lauren), Danielle (Melisa), Robby (Tara), Rachael; his great-grandchildren Jack, Nick, Delilah and his nieces and nephews, Rosita, Linda, Victor, Carmen, Anita, Otto and Richard.

Friends and family may visit Wednesday, March 8, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City with a Vigil service at 7:00 pm. A Funeral service will be celebrated Thursday, March 9 at 11:30am at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary followed by committal at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org), so our children see a future where their loved ones do not suffer.
