Lean in and learn more about Women’s History Month

- By Anne Schrager

Around the world, March is celebrated as Women’s History Month. On International Women’s Day, Wednesday, March 8, and throughout the month, you can honor women by exploring this year’s official theme: “celebrating women who tell our stories.”

Why not visit a local establishment where the roles of women are in the spotlight? For example, March 21 is recognized as “Rosie the Riveter Day,” and the East Bay’s World War II Home Front National Historical Park honors the women who built battleships and planes. It’s open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Elsewhere this month, the Bay Area has a wide variety of lectures, outdoor activities and other events focused on women. Here’s The Chronicle’s guide to celebrating women in March.
