Martine Larsen

March 15, 1930 - February 20, 2023

-

Nearly 93 years young, but perpetually “14 years old” when asked her age, our dear Martine passed away on President’s Day, 2/20/23, from complications of a heart attack suffered 2 months prior. Predeceased by her parents, sister, dear friends George and Carolyn Carr, and Kent Hundley. Survived by her “loves” - Robert Beamer, Marie Carr Hadley (and family), Catherine Carr Magee (and family), Jan Bohrnsen, and her several “children” (Pluto, Bob III, WWW, Clay, Pierre the Poodle, to name but a few). Martine was a “Daddy’s Girl” her whole life.

Born in Los Angeles during the Great Depression, raised on a cattle ranch in Nevada, then putting herself through school at UCLA and becoming a CPA, Martine used her fortitude and drive to overcome a rough start in life and become a top accountant at Arthur Andersen in San Francisco. Her fondness of numbers started at a young age, continued through her career and carried on well into retirement. Anywhere Martine was, she would look for numbers or items to count and was always quick to point out how her favorite number 9 could be found everywhere.

After living at “The Pink Palace” she became a home owner and first president at The Pacific Heights Towers Condo Bldg (unit #905), passing legislation to allow dogs to live in the building. With an enduring love for all animals, especially dogs, Martine made friends with every dog she met, and could be seen carrying her own “Pluto” with her around the city.

She was never one to idle around even in retirement. Driving her white “music mobile” around the city, Martine took up a voiceover career later in life under the direction of Samantha Paris and joined SAG. Her creativity and clever take on life with her ‘Bolette’s Bullets’ kept us all entertained for years.

To know Martine, was to know happiness. Exuding patriotism, innocence, affection, and compassion, Martine touched many hearts. Known for her hats, scarves, famous 4 th of July soirees with 49er Franks & amp; chicken pot pies, and dining on the town at Osteria/ The Big Four/The Fairmont/ Bob’s Chop House, Martine left an indelible memory on all around with laughter and a learned acknowledgement of her “children” (Bob III, Pluto) that would dine with her.

We thank all the caregivers who loved Martine so dearly and made her comfortable in her last weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the SPCA or Animal Care and Control in her memory.

Visitation will be held at Duggan’s mortuary in Daly City Thursday, March 2 nd , 3pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held Friday, March 3 rd , at 12:30, also at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary in Daly City.
