ALFRED M. GARCIA Alfred Medardo. Garcia died peacefully on March 24, 2023 in San Rafael Ca. He would have been 100 years old on June 29th of this year.

Al was born in San Francisco, June 29, 1923 to Alfred M. and Irene P. Garcia. Shortly after his birth his mother and father moved the family to Sebastopol where he attended Analy Union High School in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa Junior College. While in high school, Al lettered in both basketball and baseball, two of his favorite sports.

Upon finishing his schooling Al joined the Army. He served in the Army with the 4th Armored Division, Third Army and was wounded on September 28, 1944 near Nancy, France. He was discharged from the Army on December 19, 1945 and was awarded a Purple Heart for his valor After his recovery from his wounds, he returned to his education, and in 1949 he graduated and received a BA degree from the University of San Francisco.

Upon finishing his schooling at USF, he went to work for the Hartford Insurance Group and continued there until 1985, retiring after 36 years of service. While there, he met his future wife Mary Louise (ML) Sheehan who also worked for Hartford Insurance Group. They are married in 1957 and moved to Marin County. He was predecease­d by his his loving wife Mary Louise, his father Alfred, his mother Irene and his sister Erminia

Sayers.

He loved baseball, basketball, football, hunting, fishing and golf. He was known to enjoy a day of hunting or fishing dragging home fresh game for dinner. He would show up to his sister’s house, before his marriage, with fresh bounty or game to be prepared for that evening. He was a member of the Meadow Club for approximat­ely 70 years and served on the board in 1976 - 1977. He was also a director of the National Automobile Club for over 20 years.

He is survived by a niece Pamela Monson from Santa Rosa, a nephew Michael Sayers (Cassondra) from Panama City, Florida and several grand nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held for Al at 10:45am and a Memorial Mass will immediatel­y follow at 11:00 on May 26, 2023 at St. Isabella Church, 1 Trinity Way, San Rafael, Ca. 94903.
