June 21, 1939 - March 25, 2023

Ruth Elizabeth Seifert took her last breath on March 25, 2023 surrounded by her family.

She was born to Rev. George Douglas Seifert and Jean Metcalf Seifert in Benton Harbor, Michigan on June 21, 1939. She attended Kalamazoo College. Then received a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in music from University of Michigan. She met her husband, Ron Koenig, by a computer match date, on the San Francisco Opera steps. Ron was told to look for a girl with red hair in a white suit. They enjoyed Madame Butterfly. Ruth married Ron on March 29, 1969, and they had three children.

Ruth taught music in the public schools for 30 years. After retirement, she presided as president of three music groups and played her violin in local orchestras including Mill Valley, Sonoma County, Lucas Valley, and College of Marin. She was a model mother, world traveler, talented violinist, and a master with needle and thread. Ruth was an active member, choir leader, performer, and bell director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Novato.

She was left behind by her husband of 54 years, Ron Koenig; her three children David Koenig, Cheryl Welcome (and Mark), and Lilianna Parker (and Anthony); her siblings Sally Styers and Art Seifert (her brother Dr. Charles Seifert is deceased); and her grandchildren Cianna, Tylea, Gavin, Taelen, Hailey and Madison; and her dearest life-long friend, Ann Davis.

Her body rests at Cypress Lawn in Colma, with four generations of family. Her celebration of life was on held on April 29 at Good Shepherd Lutheran church in Novato. Donations can be made to her church. Ruth is a legacy and left footprints everywhere she walked. “Keep your sunny side up”, “Be still and know,” -494-.
