Brahms for Moms with the S.F. Symphony
A Sunday afternoon chamber music concert with Symphony musicians will feature Brahms’ “String Quartet Opus 51, No. 1,” with violinists Florin Parvulescu, Dan Carlson, Gina Cooper and cellist Rainer Eudeikis.

Resound Ensemble: Color & Light

Berkeley Potters Guild Annual Seconds Sale and Open Studios
Unique, colorful vases, sturdy stoneware cups, ceramic jewelry, sculptural art and other pieces await discovery in a large marketplace event. Usually held for one weekend only, this year the event will take place each weekend in May as part of a larger East Bay Open Studios series.

Mill Valley Music Festival
Party with mom for a weekend of fun in the sun featuring live music from Michael Franti & Spearhead, Tank and the Bangas,

Take Mom out to the Ball Game: Oakland A’s vs. Texas Rangers
The A’s days in Oakland may be coming to an end, so this is a great time to bring moms who love the team out for a game at the Oakland Coliseum. Luck has it that they will be playing at home each afternoon of the holiday weekend versus the Texas Rangers.
In recognition of Mother’s Day, Sunday’s game will honor the fight against breast cancer, with partial proceeds to benefit Susan

Smuin Contemporary Ballet Dance Series 2: ‘See Ballet Differently’
The dance program is set to feature choreographer Val Caniparoli’s “Swipe,” with music by Prokofiev and a world premiere of Amy Seiwert’s “French Kiss,” set to music from Pink Martini. A company premiere of choreographer Kate Skarpetowska’s “Sextette,” with music by Bach and Michael Smuin’s lyrical “Dream,”
set to Chopin will fill out the performance.

The Dynamic Miss Faye Carol and Jazz Drum Legends
The venerable jazz center marks Mother’s Day weekend with two quartet performances in the intimate Henderson Lab space. Though the core of the band is the same on both days (with vocalist Faye Carol, bassist Essiet Essiet and pianist Joe Warner), each will feature a different jazz heavyweight drummer (Jeff “Tain” Watts on Sunday, May 14).

Mimosas & Motown: Mother’s Day Sunday Brunch
This high-spirited celebration will combine brunch and a live Motown tribute concert from the Bay Area-based band Top Shelf Classics. Tickets include brunch, beverages and the performance.
