Michael Anthony Walsh

Michael Anthony Walsh passed away suddenly on May 6, 2023, in Redwood City, California.

Michael, son of Anthony & Helen Walsh, was born on March 23, 1955, in San Mateo, CA. He attended St. Matthew’s Catholic Elementary School and Junipero Serra High School. Michael was a retired Lieutenant in the San Francisco Fire Department. Throughout his career, he was stationed at the Bureau of Equipment, station 39, 17 and 12. He founded Walsh Plumbing and owned Dale Plumbing & Heating. Michael served as a director with San Francisco Fire Fighter’s Local 798 and board member for the Greater Bay Area Association of Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Mechanical Contractor Association.

Michael was a music lover and an excellent cook known for his Christmas cioppino and award-winning chili. He loved duck hunting, motorcycles and attending Giants and Raiders games. He coached his daughter’s softball and basketball teams and was known as “Coach Mike” to many. He had a deep love of family and strong pride in his Irish heritage. Michael will be remembered for his lively and funny personality, his generous nature and his ability to touch so many lives in such a meaningful way.

Michael is survived by his daughters Casey (Travis) Frantz, Erin (Vince) Conner, partner Sherri Warman, her sons Robert (children Jace & Rome) and Derek Warman. He is also survived by his siblings James (Mary), Kevin (Meghan), John (Patricia), Thomas (Brenda), Aileen Turner (William), several loved nephews and nieces and his trusted canine companion, Able.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Brian Walsh, his son Steven Walsh and his stepdaughter Jaime Ellison.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 2pm on June 12, 2023 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Ave., San Mateo, CA 94402.
