Stephen Dante Spano
July 31, 1951 - October 24, 2023
Stephen Dante Spano passed peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was surrounded by loving family members.
Steve:(son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, teacher, chef, friend), was a life long learner, who embraced the beauty of life with dignity and appreciation. He had special interests in culinary arts, painting, Tai Chi, meditation, and spirituality. Steve can be described as - brave, deep, gentle, strong, generous, quietly compassionate, mischievous and funny, and always preferring Romano to Parmesan.
He was a native San Franciscan
and enjoyed dinners in North Beach, visits with dear friends throughout the city and beyond, collaborating with his co-workers at San Francisco Airport, and walking in his Sunset District neighborhood by Ocean Beach and through Golden Gate Park.
Steve will be remembered as a: Devoted husband and life-partner to Margaret-his “Maggie”. Dedicated father to his son Cisco and daughter Summer Star. Amazing grandfather to Crystal, Vincenzo, and Ronan. Joyful great-grandfather to Byjia and Violet. Caring brother (and brother-in-law) to: Cathy (Doug), Jay, Mike (Margie), Matt (Margie), &
Chris (Lisa). Fun-loving and wise uncle to: Vince (Julie), Ashley (Wade), Kyle, Jenny (Drew), Aidan, Liana, Meili, Tiana, & Allegra.
He will be incredibly missed. May his journey continue to lighten and enlighten our own. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to our dear family friend Bee “Doc” Landrum. A celebration of Steve’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
