Thelma, a beloved mother, wife, friend, and active member of the Church of the Epiphany community, passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 2023 at the age of 80. Thelma was born in Ormoc, Leyte in The Philippine­s on December 23, 1942 to Jose Tio Sing and Pilar Mendoza Yu. Thelma met the love of her life, Robert, as pen pals. They were married in 1973 and had 1 child together. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family above all else. Thelma was a devout Christian who was actively involved in her church. She volunteere­d to help the church with many events and programs including the St. Vincent DePaul food donations that were given to families in need. Thelma was a woman of many talents. She was skilled at math, spoke 4 languages, and cooked many dishes that were often requested by family and friends. She loved to sing songs in Tagalog and English.

She loved to share her gifts with others, and she was always happy to teach others what she knew. Thelma always welcomed friends and family into her home.

Thelma will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. She was a loving and caring woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Friends are invited to visit on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4-8pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City, where a Rosary will begin at 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 12:30pm at Church of Epiphany, 827 Vienna St., San Francisco. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
