Judge C. Richard Bartalini
November 10, 2023
The Honorable Chester Richard Bartalini, Judge of the Superior Court of California, Retired, passed away on November 10, 2023. The Judge was 92 years old.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anne (Evanoff) Bartalini, his father Chester R. Bartalini, his mother Florinda Bartalini and his sisters Irene B. Jennings, Dorothy Shafer, and Virginia Bartalini.
He is survived by his children Robert C. Bartalini (Karen) of Medford, OR, Denise A. Bartalini and David C. Bartalini both of Alameda, CA. Grandchildren Christopher R. Bartalini (Aimee) of Medford, OR, Jessica A. Bartalini of Spokane, WA, greatgrandchildren Joshua and Jordan Bartalini of Medford, OR, and sisters Dolores J. Bartalini and Beverly B. Buhnerkempe of Alameda, and several nephews and nieces.
He was a humble man of strong character, deep love, and compassion for others. A man who believed service to humanity is the best work of life as evidenced by the numerous city, state, and national awards and honors he received for service to others.
A graduate of UC Berkeley and Hastings School of The Law, he fulfilled his lifelong ambition of becoming a judge in 1977, a position he held until he retired in 1992.
While he was proud of his accomplishments, he was perhaps the most pleased by those of his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. He loved his family dearly.
Memorial service to be held at a later date in early 2024.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in the judge’s honor be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Alameda or The Cypress Mandela Training Center of Oakland. Donations can be made via their respective websites.
