Joseph John Fischer, fondly known as Big Joe to many, peacefully passed away on December 12, 2023, with his family by his side. Joe has left our world to join the love of his life, Frances. He is survived by his children, Debbie, Joe (Jeannie), Laurie (Ken) and Cindy. The proud Papa of Kelly (Joel), Katie (Victoria), Deanna, Shannon, Ronnie, Kaitlyn and Sammi and adored great-papa of Landon, Zavar and Delaney.

A lifelong San Franciscan, Joe contributed to his community as a Korean War Veteran, President of the Mission Kiwanis, St. Phillips Men’s Club, and the Eureka Valley Merchants Association. He was proud of his volunteer service to the Peninsula Humane Society and was an honorary member of the Mariposa Hunter’s Point Yacht Club. First and foremost, he was a faithful 49er and Giants fan.

Joe’s family was of the utmost importance to him. He built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. Joe’s role as a husband, dad, and papa brought immense joy to his family, and his influence will be cherished for generations to come. His strong work ethic and keen understanding of the value of a dollar were a testament to his commitment to providing for his family.

Joe will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. Friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. and attend a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospital for Children and/ or Wounded Warrior Project in Joe’s memory would be appreciated.

The memory of Joe’s life will forever be a beacon of inspiration for all of us. Rest in peace dear Dad. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew you.
