David Curl Jr. was born in Vallejo and grew up in Vacaville. According to an obituary from his family, “Lil David” enjoyed skateboarding and bike riding, played baseball and basketball, was an avid A’s, Raiders and Lakers fan, and relished his annual Christmas job: passing out the presents at his grandparents’ home.
