(Jack) and Mary Burke Walsh, and was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 10, 1933. After graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids, she earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Marquette University and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin. Margaret served two years as a librarian with the Milwaukee Public Library system and spent the rest of her career with the San Francisco Public Library system. She enjoyed the beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area and trips along the Oregon Coast. In her younger years, she often went for walks on Mount Tamalpais, north of the Golden Gate Bridge. In 2017 Margaret moved back to Iowa to be close to family members, and she celebrated many holiday dinners in their homes. Intelligent and well-read, “Aunt Maggie” impressed her nieces and nephews with her conversation, wit, and easy laugh. She was predeceased by her parents and her five siblings, Patricia Walsh McHugh, Mary Ann Rahe, Rev. John J. Walsh, Michael B. Walsh, and Dr. Denis E. Walsh. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Kathleen M. Walsh and Judith M. Walsh as well as 13 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, may we suggest a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
