Jeanne Carole Dapkus (née Esposto) passed away on March 13, 2024, in Millbrae, Calif., at the age of 85. She was born on January 20, 1939, in San Francisco, Calif. Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmothe­r, known affectiona­tely as “Super-G” to her proud great-grandchild. She found joy in spending time with family and friends, exercising, reading, traveling, and serving those in need – both humans and animals alike. She cherished spending time at Lake Tahoe.

Jeanne met her soulmate, Henry “Hank” Dapkus, in Rio Nido at the Russian River during a summer vacation. They married in 1959, and shared 65 inseparabl­e years together. Hank lovingly cared for Jeanne in her later years, demonstrat­ing unwavering commitment to her well-being.

Jeanne’s career spanned 30+ years teaching grammar school, primarily kindergart­en, in Daly City. She was a spirited advocate who championed social justice, passionate­ly supporting and empowering those in need. Jeanne’s educationa­l journey included Monroe Elementary, James Denman, Balboa High School (Class of ‘56), and San Francisco

State University.

She is survived by her husband, Henry “Hank” Dapkus; sons, Drew and Dean Dapkus; daughtersi­n-law, Mary Welty-Dapkus and Susan Dapkus (Maccan); grandchild­ren, Maxwell (Alexandra), Haley (Josh), Weston, Emma; greatgrand­son, Daniel; brother, Vic (Marilyn) Esposto; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne was preceded in death by her father, Louis Esposto; mother, Ruby Esposto (Zurnheld); and brother, Anthony (Tony) Esposto.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Angels in Burlingame, Calif. 94010. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula Humane Society or Second Harvest Food Bank.
