JoAnn Marie Rodriguez, aged 84, passed away peacefully March 17, with family by her side. Born April 7, 1939, to Arthur and Ann Marie Burnett (nee Lotti) in San Francisco. She married Anthony Rodriguez on September 19, 1964.

JoAnn graduated from St. Vincent High School (Class of 1957). Her working career started at Pacific Bell but she was most associated with her 27 years at Macy’s in Serramonte; beginning as a “Red Coat” security member and finishing as the Dock Supervisor - a role she truly enjoyed.

Active in her Pacifica community, she was a devout parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church for over 55 years, a frequent volunteer at Linda Mar Elementary as well as a Cub Scout Leader (Den Mom) and Team Mom for multiple sports teams. Always the neighborhood Mom, if she had to raise her voice, it was always in Italian! She was a die-hard 49er fan who enjoyed a good scotch and the crab sandwich at Nick’s Rockaway.

JoAnn stayed up on current events and enjoyed debating politics both local and national. She never missed the annual trip to Reno with her friends and enjoyed frequent trips to Petaluma, Feather River, Russian River as well as travel Bermuda, Hawaii, Dubai and Washington, DC.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband,

Tony; brother, Art; and best friend, MaryEllen Rielly. She is survived by her sons: Richard (Leigh Ann) and Robert (Karen); sisters-in-law: Jean Burnett and Maria Rodrigues; and close friends: Mandy Yagi and Sharon Nealon. She was a loving Grandma to Tyler, Zachary, Heather, Clayton, Tanner, Alessandra, Seamus and Tommy; Aunt to 12 nieces and nephews; and a great- Aunt to 20 more. We will all miss her quick wit, her loving approach, and her desire to make everyone feel welcome in her home.

Friends may visit on Thursday, April 4, from 4-8 p.m. and attend a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. at DUGGAN’S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary. Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
