Dolores E. J. Williams

Born and raised in Baton Rouge, L.A., Dolores, graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School. She attended St. Mary’s Infirmary’s School of Nursing in St. Louis, Miss. Upon completion, she returned home and married Robert C. Williams, in 1958. Six children were born to this union, three in Baton Rouge, and three after the couple relocated to San Francisco.

Dolores’ profession­al career included I.C.U. and Methadone Clinic nursing. When her children were young, Dolores took on leadership roles in parents’ groups at All Hallows School.

She was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver - St. Francis Xavier Ladies Auxiliary and the San Francisco Archdioces­an Council of the National Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Young Ladies’ Institute for over 50 years, where she became the First Black Grand President. Over the years, she was recognized and received many awards for her leadership and dedication to community service.

Dolores passed away peacefully in San Francisco, on March 14, 2024. Cherishing her memory are her children, Walter, Madeline, Michael, Ronald, Michelle, and Timothy; their spouses; grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children; two sisters, Walterene Whitfield and Anita Liggins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Duggan’s Funeral Service, 3434 17th St., San Francisco. Vigil-Rosary on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, 10:00 a.m., immediatel­y followed by the Funeral Mass, at 11:00 a.m., All Hallows Catholic Church, 1440 Newhall St., San Francisco.
