John “Jack” Martin Fitzgerald April 30, 1938 March 27, 2024.

Loving father of Linda Franceschi­ni and Michael Fitzgerald, father-in-law of Rick Franceschi­ni and Michele Fitzgerald, and grandfathe­r to 5 beautiful grandchild­ren, Christophe­r, Colin, Thomas, John, and Parker. Beloved partner of Rose Gilardi, cherished brother of Joseph Fitzgerald and Susan Ritner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Eugene Fitzgerald and Daniel Fitzgerald.

Jack, a native San Franciscan, went to St. Philip Grammar School and Riordan High School. He worked for 35 years at Pacific Bell Co., until he retired and then started a handyman business to keep himself busy. Jack was a wise and joyful man of many talents. He could fix or repair just about anything, including antique clocks which he had many of. He loved gardening, fishing, the San Francisco 49ers, the San Francisco Giants, the symphony, leisurely walks around Stow Lake, spending time at his summer home in Lake County, and above all, his family.

He was a long-time rosarian and supported the American Rose Society. He was an avid rose judge for local, district, and national rose shows. He loved exhibiting his roses and was a fierce competitor. He is a founding member and past president of Lake County Rose Society and a long-time supporting member of the San Francisco Rose Society and held many positions on their board.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 12:00 pm, St. Philip the Apostle Church, 725 Diamond St., San Francisco. Private interment with family will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
