Padres’ Tatis unlikely to play in All-Star Game due to injury
San Diego Padres star right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is unlikely to play in the All-Star Game due to a stress reaction in his right thigh bone.
“I would say that's pretty accurate, yes,” manager Mike Shildt said Friday before the Padres opened a weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Tatis wasn't in the clubhouse when it was open to the media.
Tatis was voted to start for the National League team along with Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar.
Tatis hasn’t played since June 21 because of the injury that he said has been bothering him most of the season. He said three days later that he could be sidelined past the All-Star break.
“It’s a huge gap,” Tatis said when asked about the timetable for his return. “I don’t want to put it out there because people are going to expect stuff. But it’s going to be some time. We know with the right stuff we’re trying to aim after the All-Star Game, but we’re talking about something serious in my bone, in my right leg.”
Boone says Yankees unconcerned about coach’s criticism:
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he was unconcerned about criticism from Aaron Judge’s personal hitting coach.
Richard Schenk posted Thursday on X: “They’ve lost 13 out of 18 while he’s hitting like an MVP. The Yankees offensive player development is terrible.”
“People are going to say things and certainly everyone’s entitled their opinion,” Boone said Friday, “and especially when you go through a tough stretch and you wear this uniform I know people are going to take shots and things like that, so you can’t get all consumed with all that stuff. We got enough to worry about making sure we’re buttoned up and putting our best foot forward every day.”

Tennis: A former tennis player from BosniaHerzegovina was banned for six years after admitting to match-fixing violations, the sport's integrity unit said on Friday. Jasmina Tinjic, 33, who was ranked as high as 236th in 2013, did not contest the charges relating to “corrupt activity” in 2017 and 2018, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said. Those charges included “contriving the outcome of matches, facilitating wagering, receiving money in return for not giving best efforts in matches, and failure to report corrupt approaches.”
