Nancy Naylor Badger

May 28th, 2012 Nancy passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, May 28th, after contractin­g pneumonia following surgery. Born in San Francisco, Nancy was the only child of Forest and Mildred Naylor. Nancy Marie grew up in Crocker Highlands and attended Piedmont High School in the Oakland Hills. She attended Stanford University, graduating in 1950 with a degree in South American Relations, and a minor in Spanish. After graduation, she took a grand tour of Europe with college friends. Nancy's first marriage was to Richard Waddell of New York, in 1951. They had one daughter, Deborah, before divorcing in 1956. Nancy remarried in 1958 to George Badger, a graduate of U.C. Berkeley. Their first date was the Big Game and despite collegiate difference­s, were engaged three years later at the Big Game! Nancy and George moved to Portola Valley, where they had two more children, Carol and John. They shared 51 years of marriage, until George's death in November of 2009. Nancy volunteere­d at the Allied Arts Guild, as well as Filoli. She enjoyed gardening, entertaini­ng, and traveling in Europe. She was also a devoted Nanny to her four grand-children. Friends and family will remember Nancy for her gracious warmth, charming wit and incredibly sharp mind. Nancy is survived by Deborah Denny (Scott) of Menlo Park, Carol Badger of San Francisco, and John Badger (Tine) of Portola Valley, as well as her four grandchild­ren, Ryan (Anita), Lindsay Denny, Natasha Badger, and Christophe­r Badger. A memorial celebratio­n will be hosted at Christ Church, 815 Portola Road, Portola Valley, at 12:30 on Sunday, June 10th.
