1928 - 2012 Beloved husband of Barbara, proud father of George, Andrew, Carolyn and Annette and fatherin-law of Cynthia Wiggin, Jody Brooks and James Cox. Adoring grandfathe­r of Amelia and Brenna Wiggin and Benjamin and Justine Cox. Caring brother of Helen and brother-in-law of Ray Baker of Nori, Michigan and loving uncle of Bruce and Karen Baker, Janet Doxey, Cathy Ramer and Nancy Gilbert. His love of family was his top priority. Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised there and several locations following his father's army career during WWII. Graduate of the University of Michigan, Civil Engineerin­g Class of 1950. Member of the Sigma Phi Fraternity where he made everlastin­g friends. Served in the Navy on the U.S.S. George during the Korean War. A graduate of the Naval School in Monterey and honorably discharged as a Lt. J.G. Returned to Michigan briefly to start his career in constructi­on but returned to the Bay Area which he always loved. He worked for several constructi­on companies including Guy F. Atkinson, Swinerton and Walberg and Lathrop Constructi­on, then started his own commercial remodeling company in 1966 from which he retired in 1990. His house in the Oakland hills was always part of his constructi­on efforts. He raised his four children in St. Theresa's Parish where he was President of the Holy Names Society and a member of the Parish Council. He was also coPresiden­t of the Parents Club at Bishop O'Dowd High School. He served for several years on the Board of Examiners and Appeals for the City of Oakland. He loved sports of all kinds and played golf, tennis and squash with lifelong friends. He was a 50 year member of the Olympic Club where he swam until his final illness. His interest in camping and especially RVing is legendary. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 8 at St. Theresa Church, 30 Mandalay Rd., Oakland, CA at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alameda Food Bank, 7900 Edgewater Dr., Oakland, CA 94621.
