Margaret "Peg" Mary (Moran) Richardson

Sept. 27, 1930 – Sept. 23, 2012 Our mother was a woman who faced life with faith and optimism. The beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick) Richardson, married 55 years; irreplaceable mother of Linda Barbero, Susan Richardson Kelly, Patricia Richardson Liddle, Kevin Richardson, Maureen Cook and Brian Richardson; loving grandmother of Nicole and Mark Barbero, Sean Kelly, and Katie, Joseph and John (Lucky) Cook; cherished mother-in-law to Bob Barbero, Jeff Kelly, Libby Richardson and Will Cook; treasured sister of the late Eileen Freiling and Msgr. Bernard Moran; admired sister-in-law of John and Kay Richardson, Mary Richardson, Theresa and Bill Murphy, the late Jayne Richardson and Timothy and LaVerne Richardson; and more than just an aunt to 12 nieces and nephews in the Richardson, Murphy and Freiling families. A true San Francisco native, Peg grew up on Elizabeth Street in Noe Valley and attended St. James Elementary and Immaculate Conception Academy High School (class of 1949) – with fond memories of spending many wonderful days with her parents, Mary and Joseph, and her best friends Eileen and Bernie (her siblings) and Marilyn Rosa O'Sullivan and John Rosa (her cousins). After marrying Dick, they moved West to the Sunset where they raised their six children as part of the St. Garbriel’s parish “family”, and where she spent over 20 years as the church bookkeeper and formed many cherished friendships. Peg placed a high priority on her family, and found great pleasure in planning memorable family events and adventures. Both Dick and Peg were committed to the education of their children, and Peg was a dedicated fundraiser and supporter of St. Gabriel’s school. She enjoyed many hobbies, including crafts, golf and (in her earlier years) ping-pong – more often than not, beating her children with her uncanny eye-hand coordination. After raising their family, Dick and Peg became world travelers, and reveled in the beauty of each country they visited. In her final moments she was surrounded by the loving support and presence of her family and dedicated caregivers. Family and friends may visit on Friday, September 28 at 6pm and are invited to attend a Vigil Service beginning at 7pm, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 2559 - 40th Ave, SF. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29 at 11:00 am, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, followed by Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Gabriel’s School Scholarship Fund.
