James Michael Gallagher

Jim passed away at the age of 75 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born and raised in the Potrero Hill district of San Francisco, and attended Mission High School. Soon after he graduated in 1956, Jim joined the US Army where he served as a Military Police Officer stationed in Germany. In 1962, Jim married Jeannie Britschgi Gallagher, his wife of fifty years and moved to Redwood City where they raised their family. Jim also attended Golden Gate University and then pursued a career as Director of Distributi­on for Calaveras Cement Co. for over 25 years. Jim was an active member of the SF Transporta­tion Club. Jim also had a great passion and a love of sports especially baseball and golf. He was a member of the SF Old Timers Baseball Associatio­n and Fairway Swingers Golf Club. Jim was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish since 1962, where he attended mass and was a member of the Parish Men's Club. Jim will be remembered for his greatest joys; going to 49er games, watching his Dodgers, coaching his children, seeing his grandchild­ren play sports, eating at Original Joes, golfing, playing in the Langridge Cup, attending Grandparen­t's Day, taking his girls to their Father Daughter dances, Saturday night family dinners and sitting on his front porch. These celebratio­ns along with his love for family are the traditions that will stay with those who knew him always. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Gallagher and Ann & Manuel Cortez. He will forever be in the hearts of his wife Jeannie and his 6 children Karen ( Scott), Kathleen (Michael), Kevin (Rebecca), Mary-K (Tony), Colleen (Mike), Maureen (Greg) and forever remembered by his 19 grandchild­ren Todd, Colleen, & Reagan Sammons, Kyle, Hayley, Madison & Pacey Sheridan, Emily, Katie & Grace Gallagher, Isabella, Charlie, Brady & Aidan Musich, Olivia, Macklin, Payton & Tillman Langridge and Jackson Arnott. Also missing Jim are his loving sisters Diane DeMartini and Kathleen Rose and large extended family. There will be a memorial mass on Tuesday, November 20th at 11am, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 300 Fulton Street, Redwood City In lieu of flowers and gifts, please donate to Our Lady of Mount Carmel tuition assistance fund, in memory of Jim Gallagher. 301 Grand Street, Redwood City The greatest gift I ever had came from God; I call him Dad!
