Roland E. Lovelady (Gene Lovelady)

June 5, 1925 – Nov. 11, 2012 Gene's early life was spent in Omaha, Nebraska. Gene had many scholastic awards as a young student in grade school and high school. Following his graduation from high school, Gene enlisted in the US Army and was accepted in Officers Candidate School (OCS). Upon graduation from OCS as a commissioned army officer, Gene was assigned to the Army-Air Force squadron in the Pacific theater during World War II. Following Gene's service in the US Army, he continued his schooling (majored in accounting) and graduated from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. After passing the CPA exam Gene worked for a national CPA firm. Gene's first love was his wife Elanor who he married shortly after returning from his army service. His second love was classic cars. After leaving the national CPA firm, Gene started his own CPA business in the Burlingame-San Mateo area. When most CPA firms were trying to identify a floppy disk drive, Gene had a mini-computer fully operational with customized programming. Gene had a thriving CPA practice for over 35 years. Gene was a member of several classic car clubs. Among his prized vehicles was a 1907 Model N Ford. At the 1984 classic car event-34th Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance - Gene's 1907 Ford Model N was awarded the First Place Blue Ribbon. Gene will be remembered for his cheerful attitude, quick and fertile mind and an abundance of energy. Gene is survived by his wife Elanor and son Clay. An informal memorial service will be held on Tuesday (11/20/12) at 11am at the Neptune Society 1645 El Camino Real Belmont, CA 650-592-9880. Friends and acquaintances are welcomed.
