Let the sheriff do his job

- Robert Rissel, San Jose

I see by Friday’s front-page headline “Sheriff rejects mayor’s demand” and the editorial “Sheriff at work,” that you are continuing by format and content your vindictive, wasteful attacks on the duly elected sheriff. Can you not spend your print and space on something productive for the city? As noted by recent letter writers, there certainly are more important issues for The Chronicle to editorialize upon. (Some of which might even be helpful to women who have actually been abused, as opposed to setting up a custody position for a potential divorce.)

What malfeasance is behind these continuing attacks? Is it the personal ego of the mayor and district attorney? The baffling issue is not with the elected sheriff, but with The Chronicle’s use of its pulpit to attack the elected sheriff.
