St. Mary’s wins behind 2nd-half run

-

Brad Waldow and Stephen Holt scored 16 points each and St. Mary’s used a surge to start the second half to beat Eastern Washington 85-66 in Moraga on Sunday night.

Jorden Page and James Walker III added 12 points apiece for the Gaels (3-0), who led 37-33 at intermission. St. Mary’s began the second half with a 16-3 run.

“Second half, I think we kind of wore them down a little bit. I think our depth helped us there,” Gaels head coach Randy Bennett said. “We got some transition and we were able to separate. When you’re able to separate, it takes the pressure off.”

St. Mary’s shot 64.3 percent (18for-28) from the floor in the second half.

Justin Crosgile had 13 points and five assists for the Eagles (0-3). Matthew Dellavedova had nine points, eight assists and six rebounds for the Gaels.
