Do it the right way

Debra J. Saunders, (“Pelosi’s rocky road to peace in Damascus,” Sept. 5), has it right in saying that a “cosmetic attack” would only “rejuvenate” Bashar Assad’s fortunes. Anything short of an attack meant to bring down his regime would be worse than useless, adding to the weakness with which President Obama is perceived around the world by friend and foe.
