Jay Bruce, right, hit two home runs off Clayton Kershaw in the Reds’ 3-2 victory over the Dodgers in Cincinnati on Sunday night.

The homers were the first by a left-handed batter against the left-handed Kershaw since June 15, 2012.

Bruce gave the Reds a 1-0 lead in the second with his homer into the netting above the visitors’ bullpen down the right-field line. It was the first homer allowed by Kershaw in 58 innings.

Bruce clubbed his second homer in two at-bats in the fourth, a 382-foot blast into the right field seats. The multi-homer game was the 14th of his career.

Michael Wacha allowed two hits in seven scoreless innings and drove in two runs with a single as the host Cardinals routed Pittsburgh 9-2 to finish a three-game sweep.

Alex Rios homered in the first inning and drove in the go-ahead run with a bloop double in the seventh to help the Rangers defeat the host Angels 4-3 and remain 1½ games behind the firstplace A’s in the AL West.

Eric Hosmer had a three-run homer among his three hits in the Royals’ 5-2 win over visiting Detroit.
