Scoring for Good

-

In a nutshell: You can sit on the couch all day Sunday watching football and still help with a community cause — bringing happiness to the children of cancer patients. Cool factor: With the Scoring for Good app, you can join 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith, Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel and Redskins tackle Tyler Polumbus and raise money for Camp Kesem, a national nonprofit organization that runs camps for children with parents who are suffering from or who have died from cancer. Smith pledged $1,000 — the cost of sending one kid to camp — for every sack he records this season. You can also pledge to donate for each Smith sack, Manuel touchdown or tackle made by Polumbus. The money is charged after each week’s games. You can opt out at any time.

Note:

Search for Camp Kesem to find the free Android app in the Google Play store. An iPhone app is expected to be available this week. For more info, go to www.scoringforgood.org or www.campkesem.org.
