Punit Mathur, vice president of a digital media company in India who switched to an iPhone 4S from a newer Samsung Nexus 4 smartphone, on the cachet that even Apple’s older devices have for consumers. The Cupertino company, which has struggled in emerging markets because of the price of its new devices, is now promoting more affordable, older models in India, a market that’s growing faster than China and the United States.
