FLEAMARKET FABULOUSNESS

- ALEXA EISNER — Maghan McDowell

STYLE: “Baba chic,” and a blending of the old with the new

STORY: As an artist and stylist, Eisner enjoys breathing new life into found objects — whether that’s painting them and adding them to a denim jacket or imagining a new wardrobe out of the items that a client already owns. As a former dancer, she often thinks about the body, what people wear, and how that might influence identity. Her personal style, “Baba chic” (a reference to her Serbian grandma’s style), is influenced by everything from hip-hop to inherited hand-me-downs with a knack for combining slightly bold pieces that might be just a touch “off.”

DETAILS: “John” letter jacket found at an estate sale, from 1971; American Apparel top; pants found on the street in the Upper Haight; Dolce Vita shoes (Nordstrom); drugstore socks; vintage belt from an ex-boyfriend’s grandmother; a Goodwill necklace; chain from the hardware store; and rings from various sources, including a “nail” ring from H&M.
