The Street Food Festival returns

- — Jonathan Kauffman, jkauffman@sfchronicle.com

La Cocina’s sixth annual San Francisco Street Food Festival has become such an established event that it’s hard to imagine that this year may be its last. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, 85 vendors will assemble on Folsom Street between 20th and 26th streets and several side streets. Participants in La Cocina’s incubator program will sell their food side by side with restaurants such as Il Cane Rosso, Chino and A16. Vendors sell a big bite for $8 and smaller bites for $3. “Passports” in amounts ranging from $50 to $300 are available at www.sfstreetfoodfestival2014.eventbrite.com; most include drink tokens and donations to La Cocina. According to Michelle Fernandez, communications associate for La Cocina, the festival has outgrown its Mission location. The search for a large yet affordable site is under way; if one is found, the event will return next year.
