lead, with Cy Young favorite Clayton Kershaw pitching Sunday.

Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis called the Giants’ win Friday “a punchin the mouth.” On Saturday night, Bruce Bochy said, “They punched back.”

Tim Hudson hadt he shortest of his 455 major-league starts, an inning plus two batters, and allowed six runs. Were that not demoralizing enough for the homeside, Tim Lincecum relieved Hudson and allowed five runsin three innings, dashing any hopes that he had found away to regain effectiveness during his re-education period.

The Dodgers had 11 hits byt he second inning and 24 overall, an AT&T Parkrecord. The 17 runs set a visitors mark for China Basin, andthe 17-run-margin was the Dodgers’ biggest against San Francisco since the teams moved west in1958.

Bochy had waited for just the right moment to summon his 27-year-old son, Brett, into a game, and there was a comical aspect to the way it happened.

The Bochy shave joked about how Bruce brought Brett into his first big-league-spring training gamein 2013with the bases loaded, throwing his boy into the fire.

It happened again Saturday. The Dodgers were leading 14-0 in the sixth when Bruce decided Mike Kick ham had enough. Witht wo outs, Bruce handed Brett the ball— again with the bases loaded.

“He likes toget into the habit of that,” Brett said, smiling.

The younger Bochy walked in a run before getting the third out. Inthe seventh, he recorded his first big-league strike out (Yasiel Puig) before allowing his first home run (Scott Van Slyke).

Odd sare, Bruce will remember his emotions far morethan the result.

“It's kind of surreal, really,” themanager said. “Here's your son, and you're bringing him into a big-league-game. You're nervous. At the same time you're very proud. I was glad to see him out there. He's worked hard to get here. I was very proud.”

Long before then, the Dodgers batted around in the first inning and scored four runs against Hudson, just as the Giants did against Hyun-Jin Ryu on Friday. Difference was, Ryu was injured and Hudson said he was fine.

Indeed, twoof the five hits in the inning were grounders that found holes. A third was misplayed by Angel Pagan.

Still, Huds on could not get outs, and the Giants are winless in his three September starts. His ERA in those games: 10.50.

The 39-year-old insisted he is not wearing down, saying, “Ihad a little bit of tough luck and I’m not making good pitches at times. That's what it boils down to. I’ve got tomake better pitches.”
