Alfredo Acero

Alfredo, better known as Al, was born in the Philippine­s and moved at the age of 12 to San Francisco’s Bernal Heights District. Al attended Presidio Junior High School, where he was an award winning sprinter on the track team. After graduating from John O’Connell Tech High School, Al joined the U.S. Army where he was assigned artillery and operated tanks in Munich, Germany during the Korean War. After Honorable discharge from the Army, Al became a Union Carpenter, married Lois Poulsen and moved to Pacifica in 1966 with their three young sons, Mark, Vincent and Robert. Lois and Al’s fourth son, John, was born eight years later. Al enjoyed living in Pacifica. His family was active in St. Peters Church and Boy Scouts. Being an avid fisherman, Al could often be found on the Pacifica Pier where many appreciate­d watching him use his hand crafted crab nets. He also enjoyed playing golf and tennis. When Al retired, he moved to Stockton, Ca. His strong social presence and outgoing personalit­y will be missed by all. Alfredo Acero is survived by his former wife Lois, sons Mark Acero (Susan), Vincent Acero, Robert Acero (Neveen), and John Acero. Grandchild­ren, Derek, Danny, Andrew, Allison, Nile and Ocean. Al was preceded in death by his loving sister Consuelo (Sally) and brother in law Wayne Giles. Survived also by nieces, nephews, extended family. A Funeral Mass will be held at Pacifica’s St. Peter’s Church on Friday, September 19th at 7:00pm with a reception to follow.
