Doris Luann (Mckee) Margaroli

Born to John and Irene McKee in Oakland, California. Married to John L. Margaroli for 47 years (he preceded her in death, 1986.) Raised their family, three children, in Oakland.

Doris was a volunteer for the blind. She enjoyed golf, playing cards and her weekly Scrabble game. She was a cancer survivor! She enjoyed artistic painting, wrote poems, and was often heard singing while doing her daily activities. She enjoyed gambling, owned a race horse, learned to cook Italian food from her beloved sister-in-law, Rose Pezzolo and loved to dance to the accordian music played by her brother-in-law Ralph Pezzolo.

The Margaroli family spent many vacations at Pezzolo’s Resort in Lake County, a resort owned by Ralph and Rose Pezzolo.

After her husband’s death Doris moved to Reno and then to Yerington, Nevada, where she spent the last 25 years of her life.

Doris was a wonderful and caring wife, a great mother, an extraordin­ary sister, aunt and loving grandmothe­r. She will be lastingly remembered and missed by her family for her love of life, laughter, generosity and adventurou­s spirit.

She is survived by her daughter Joerene Tognoli (Lido); her son’s Alfred (Sarah) and John Margaroli; her brother Thomas Anderson (Eileen), her nephews Darius, Garrett and Kirk Anderson; grandchild­ren Luann Wertz, Steven and Dennis Tognoli, Gretchen and Anna (Bicho) Margaroli. She leaves ten great-grandchild­ren and five great-great grandchild­ren.

Doris will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery, Yerington, Nevada. A memorial service will be held at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, Yerington, Nevada, on October 4, 2014 at 12:00 PM.
