Dan Lee, 65 passed away unexpected­ly on December 15, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Dan was born and raised in San Francisco to Wayne and Tew Ha Lee. The first born son of a Chinese family, Dan grew up in the Marina and Russian Hill area of San Francisco. He attended Spring Valley Elementary School, Mariana Junior High and Galileo High School. He also attended two years of Chinese School, where his parents hoped he would learn to read and write fluently in Chinese. He graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. Dan started his profession­al career in 1972 with Bank of America in Credit. With a career span of over 27 years with Bank of America, Dan worked at the Day and Night Branch, San Jose Main, Chinatown and San Francisco Main, retiring as Senior Vice President in 1999, at the age of 50. Dan came out of retirement and worked for the First Republic Bank, retiring for the second time after 3 years. Dan’s early retirement gave him the opportunit­y to enjoy traveling and golfing. He was a member of Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae. He never got his hole-in-one, but was ready to play in the Senior Tournament. Dan not only loved to travel and golf, but he also looked forward to meeting up with his friends at Mills High School for early morning walks around the track. Dan spent many hours with family and friends sharing stories of what it was like growing up in San Francisco. One of his favorite stories was the time he served on the Miss Chinatown pageant. His stories were always shared with fine wines and good food. Dan loved sharing his wines with family and friends. Dan is survived by his wife Jeanne, of 38 years, his motherin-law, Judy Jew, brother Calvin of San Francisco, sister Susie Yick (Ray) of San Francisco, sisters-in-law Marilyn Ikezawa (Willand, deceased in October, 2014) of South San Francisco, Annie Dossetti (Mike) of Merced, Marien Wong (Larry) of Oakland, Joyce Fujii (Randy) of San Ramon, and brother-in-law Tom Jew (Diane) of Saratoga. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him immensely. Dan’s untimely passing has left a hole in many hearts. Someone who has been so much a part of so many lives can never really be gone. A celebratio­n of Dan’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 12 noon, Green Hills Country Club, 500 Ludeman Lane, Millbrae, California.
