Born August 16, 1924 in San Francisco. Passed away peacefully in San Francisco on December 20, 2014. At the age of 90, Angelo was welcomed into Heaven by his beloved parents Angelo and Matilde Foppiano. Dear husband of 64 beautiful years to his devoted wife and soulmate, Ann. Cherished dad and best friend to Joanne Nelson and proud father-in-law of Ron Nelson, whom he loved like a son. Precious and fun Nonno to his grandchild­ren Stephanie and Kevin Nerney and Mark Nelson. Adored great-grandfathe­r to Josh who always brought a smile to his face. Dearly loved brother of Theresa DeMattei and her late husband, Gene. Loving uncle of Janice and Stephen Davoren and Doreen and Jose Castillo. Angelo will be fondly remembered by his great-nieces and nephews, Karen, Gina, Marco, Michael, Leonor, Aria, David, Monica and Alex. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Vincent Calcagno and cousins, Mary Gobbo, Elena Foppiano, Adele Ordano, and Charles and Peggy Foppiano. He is loved by the Barambani, Bianco, Konjicija, Ordano, and Rainaldi families.

Angelo was proud of his Italian heritage. He treasured his memories of growing up in North Beach. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, cooking, Halloween, visiting his dear friends at the Royal Pin Donut Shop, and his glass of wine. He was a proud veteran of World War II and participat­ed in the Battle of the Bulge. Angelo was a 40 year dedicated shareholde­r and employee at Sunset Scavenger Company. Above all, he loved and appreciate­d his family.

Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital, most notably Dr. Gerald Murphy, Dr. Eugene Groeger, Dr. Arthur Chin, and Jeanne Dimech. They provided exceptiona­l care and compassion to Angelo and his family.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a Vigil Service will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 28th at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29th at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert Street, San Francisco, followed by the Committal at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma.
